Having cut her teeth in the events and meetings industry at Opryland Theme Park, Carol is enjoying her 12th year with Destination Nashville. In her current role as Chief Operating Officer Carol ensures the success of each and every program through complete client satisfaction. Recently appointed to the Certification and Accreditation Board of the Association of Destination Management Executives (ADME) she was awarded the Joanne O’Connor President’s Award from the organization in 2009 for her leadership roles and dedication to industry education. Carol serves as the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Study Group leader for Tennessee as well as a multiple-time CMP Boot Camp facilitator for Meeting Professionals International (MPI). She earned her own CMP certification in 2000 and Destination Management Certified Professional (DMCP) in 2002. As a faculty member for the Belmont University Event Certification Program, Carol is a requested presenter on meetings industry issues. Carol served as President of the Tennessee Chapter of MPI in 2000-01 supported by a background of multiple chapter leadership roles. On the international level of MPI, she has served in several capacities with her most recent assignment as a member of the influential Future of Meetings Task Force. She also is a member of ISES and has been involved with the APEX Commission Resumes and Work Orders and Glossary Group, ASAE, Pow Wow and NACE. A major career highlight for Carol was producing the Country Music Awards After Party when the show made its one and only trip to New York City. That career honor along with nominations for multiple ADME Achievement Awards and a Special Event Gala Award has earned Carol a respected place in the industry.
