Associate Director of Operations

Rita Sommers, a Nashville native, graduated from Belmont University in 2005 where she earned her degree in Marketing. She was first introduced to Destination Nashville and the world of Destination Management through her Event Management class at Belmont and was instantly drawn to the company and its philosophy.  Rita joined the Destination Nashville Operations Team in 2006 with over four years of customer service, management, and catering management experience, and was promoted to Associate Director of Operations in 2009. Her enthusiasm for her hometown, Nashville, keeps Rita energized when working with clients from around the globe as well as locally. She loves to show off her city, striving to merge creativity, cutting edge design with logistics to create a memorable and well executed event.

Her passion for the outdoors and the environment has been reflected in her passion for the recent trend towards green meetings and events.  She is committed to educating herself as well as her colleagues and clients on the benefits of going green.  Outside of Destination Nashville Rita enjoys exploring the Nashville music scene, keeping abreast of new and emerging local talent.  She also moderates the Destination Nashville Twitter page, you can follow us here: http://twitter.com/DestNashville.
