PAULETTE NICHOLSON WINS NASHVILLE CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU HITMAKERS AWARDMay 2011, in recognition of National Tourism Week, the Nashville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau introduced the NEW front-line hospitality recognition program - Music City Hitmakers. There's no doubt that what makes Nashville's hospitality industry so successful is its front-line employees who often go above and beyond to provide noteworthy service and make a great impression on our visitors. The Music City Hitmakers program recognizes their vital contributions to the industry and fosters excellence in customer service. The November 2011 recipient is Destination Nashville’s very own, PAULETTE NICHOLSON. A Music City Hitmaker is recognized each month for their outstanding service, and receives a $100 restaurant gift card, a lapel pin that distinguishes them as a Hitmaker, admission for two to area attractions, a certificate of recognition from Mayor Karl Dean and a video highlight feature on www.visitmusiccity.com/hitmakers. During National Travel & Tourism Week in May, the industry will present an annual award to the monthly winner who has received the greatest accolades throughout the year.
THE SUBMISSION THAT WON PAULETTE THIS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD..... My extended family and I stayed at your beautiful resort, Gaylord Opryland in Nashville over Labor Day weekend. My niece competed in the USA National Clogging Championship. As I had done on many, many other dance recitals, I wanted to present my niece with a bouquet of fresh flowers. While asking a restaurant employee if there was a florist on site, my conversation was overheard by a member of your staff. She interrupted, indicated that there was not a florist on site, but inquired as to what I needed. After I explained, she grinned, and said “I will see what I can do.” I told her that it was not a big deal and not to worry about it. We parted and I thought nothing more about it. About an hour later, while seated in the Presidential Ballroom, I noticed the same lady walking through the crowd with an armful of the most beautiful cut arrangement. She explained how she had called Gaylord Horticulture in the hotel and they were going to throw out some cuttings. They tied the same with a brand new yellow bandana. The whole thing was priceless and my niece glowed with joy as we presented this bouquet. This super nice lady’s name is Paulette Nicholson. Ms. Nicholson went far beyond anything that I would have ever expected. I noticed the motto printed on the door card later that evening with a smiley face, “Consider it Done!” Ms. Nicholson really took Gaylord’s motto to a new height and tenor last Saturday afternoon. My family will certainly return to Gaylord Opryland and other Gaylord properties should we find one at our destinations. |
